Many things happened

Troubled, unsure yet still holding firmly to what I believe in, God's soverignty

This past week has been up and done for me. I thank all of you who met up with me this week either to cheer me up, meet me up to sort out stuff etc. It hasnt been an easy week but i've made some progress in various stuff. =) K, more about the week and some observations i had

Youmin's birthday on Friday
Met Youmin, her boyfriend and xiuling for dinner on friday evening at city hall. Bad choice to meet but a wrong decision turned out well. In our haste to escape the crowds around esplanade waiting to watch fireworks, we decided to meet Miss Gan nearer her workplace at Shenton Way. even though there wasnt any substanstial food served along the boat quay lane, an unexpected result of it was that we managed to catch an unobstructed view of the fireworks from our dinner place! it was beautiful. Nothing can compare to watching the fireworks live.

after that, we proceeded on to our next stop, which was this cafe that Miss Gan wanted to introduce to us. It's called ps cafe and if you guys dont know about it, you should check it out! It's on harding road, a pretty isolated and quiet road with no streetlights. the drive in felt pretty dodgey but it was worth the drive. when i saw it lighted in the midst of the darkness that surrounded it, i fell in love with the place! =)

a pictture of it .

Library Book Sale @ Expo
It was really crowded! My gosh..the bookfair began at 0930hr but when we reached there at 0915hr, the queue outside had already streched all the way to burger king! It was not only just one stright line, it was a like a snake, curling here and there. Whoah...
and people came prepared. Saw some people carry big empty bags, foldable trolleys, even suitcases! My gosh, no wonder they need to limit people to max 50 books per person.

Inside was another sight all together. There was pushing and shoving as people tried to get close to the books, peer over one another's shoulders, stick an arm through bodies just to jostle and hustle their way in to grab the book of their desire.
Got a few blue backs out of this trip as well on top of the four books i bought from the fair. Is it worth it? Well, not really but i guess its the experience of going . Will i go back again next year? Maybe , maybe not. Let see how it goes.

Currently listening to Ruth Ling's CD pretty good.
I love her lyrics and the songs that she rearrange, just like the hymn below.
I forgot about this hymn and I wanna just share it here with you. I have been going through some major decisons in my life, and often I cry out because i dun understand why things happen, why i'm in a paticular situation. but i know that God is there and he holds all the plans he sees it all.

I don't know about tomorrow,
I just live from day to day.
I don't borrow from it's sunshine,
For it's skies may turn to gray.
I don't worry o'er the future,
For I know what Jesus said,
And today I'll walk beside Him,
For He knows what is ahead.

Refrain
Many things about tomorrow,
I don't seem to understand;
But I know Who holds tomorrow,
And I know Who holds my hand.
Ev'ry step is getting brighter,
As the golden stairs I climb;
Ev'ry burden's getting lighter;
Ev'ry cloud is silver lined.
There the sun is always shining,
There no tear will dim the eyes,
At the ending of the rainbow,
Where the mountains touch the sky.

Refrain
Many things about tomorrow,
I don't seem to understand;
But I know Who holds tomorrow,
And I know Who holds my hand.

I don't know about tomorrow,
It may bring me poverty;
But the One Who feeds the sparrow,
Is the One Who stands by me.
And the path that be my portion,
May be through the flame or flood,
But His presence goes before me,
And I'm covered with His blood.

Refrain
Many things about tomorrow,
I don't seem to understand;
But I know Who holds tomorrow,
And I know Who holds my hand.

Back from Vietnam

Hey guys, after one week of silence from me I'm back to blogging again. My mission trip was really fruitful as I saw God doing so much in the field. I'm glad i was part of the medical team, providing a service as well as I can. More updates from that in a few entries to come!

Other stuff in life:

60th Wedding anniversary plans continues... It is fast approaching its actaul date so every sunday afternoon has been now designated as rehearsal days. Relatives would start arriving at around 5pm to begin rehearsals for 60 sparkly years presentation. I'm in charge of this section and it has indeed been challenging and fun at the same time. A sumptious dinner is always provided at 7pm for the hardworking singers and family members, accompanied by coffee and tea afterward. Rehearsals begin again after dinner around 8 plus till max 10pm. I'm usually throughly exhausted after everyone has gone home as coordinating people to sing their parts, come in at the right section is really .. something. =)

Bad habit

a little thing i've noticed about myself today. I realise that unless I'm going out for a really short period of time, i can never carry a tiny little bag (those that will only fit your wallet, keys and phone). I need to bring a book to read everywhere I go, especially if there are long mrt/bus rides. and often times, i need to bring another book on top of the former just in case i get bored with the other one. than i can switch books. =) (not forgetting a note book to pen down thoughts)

And than, when the journey gets too bumpy and I'm nauseous, i can listen to my ipod... one more thing to carry. am i carrying too many things?

=)

Driving the FRV and my sis's new toy

My sister's new toy

It's the new mac book, which arrived in the office just before team prayer and got everyone in hysterics (even the PC users mind you) every part of it is so pretty, even the styrofoam in the box (check out the photos). It's white like her current one but has a ton of cool software included like iLife and iWork which we bought too. she also has an inbuilt video on top for video conferencing! so cool.. =) thankfully it's white, if not i will be mighty envious of it. =)

Driving the FRV

Today, we drove out for lunch at Ginza Market in the FRV aka ForeRunner Van. On the way home, the guys decided to let me try driving the van since I passed my driving. Haiks found a pretty quiet road for to start off and off i went! Was a little apprehensive at first cos the clutch was slightly stiff and the gears difficult to manuver. But to my surprise, it was alot easier to handle as compared to my dad's auto car. realise i do prefer the manual car cos it gives me more control over the car. =) Thanks to Haiks, who was really very calm throughout the whole adventure. Felt very assured with him at the side. =) Looking forward to more opportunities to drive the van.=)

My Happy Drug has grown up

My Happy Drug has grown up

Have you guys seen Ben's Blog recently? Gee, have you all noticed, how caleb has grown up in the past few months? No longer is he a baby anymore. He has transformed (morphed) into a cute, naughty little boy full of personality. Check out the videos, cute photos and writeups about little caleb @ http://diaryofanewdaddy.blogspot.com

For non-BMC pple, a little background:

Diary of a new daddy is owned by my bible study leaders Ben and Gen (who happens to be my sis's secondary school classmate as well) They have a son who recently turned one in may called caleb. He's a cutie and the informal mascot at YAM every sat.
You should see the room when he enters. People notice him coming in and flogged towards to coo at him or to pinch his cheeks or to attempt to carry him (not an easy feat as the days go by mind you). SInce caleb is an extrovert by nature ( i feel) he enjoys it all.

gen12ii Thanksgiving

Gen12ii Thanksgiving

Gen12ii Thanksgiving, is the closing event to the gen12ii missions movement organised by the Campus ministry in which TURT was a part of. Held last night at Covenant Presbyterian, the students led worship. everything was going fine from the start of set-up at 5pm. Under the leadership of Hansel (vocalist in TURT, worship leader at gen12ii thanksgiving) the worship begun. But suddenly in the midst of the worship, a loud 'pop' resounded in the ark like hall and we were left in the dark.

Despite the power failure, the band continued to lead the people into a time of worship. Hearing the voices only, it was surreal for me. Often, the musical instruments we play drown out the voices of the people. Hence, to be able to hear a 200 strong group just singing praises to the Lord was pretty cool.

A Father's Love

The speaker for the night, was our former National Director, Roland Tan. Roland has been the National Director for the past 10 years. My impression of him has always been one of respect and admiration and last night was no different. Roland and Ying Kheng (his wife) have a daughter, Julienne who participated in this year's TURT. Hence, I got to view Roland in a different light, not only as the National Director of Singapore Campus Crusade for Christ, but as a father of one of our TURT students. Everytime I hear Roland speak (most of the time anyway), he will share a little about his family. Yesterday was no exception. His love for his daughter was displayed as he talked about how she joined a mission trip this year, about the war stories (mission trip stories) he heard from her. As he was speaking, his ethos (credibility) matched his exuberance, his pride in her. =) and it got me thinking. If he, as her earthly Father can be beaming in pride, in love for his daughter, what more our heavenly Father, who loves us many folds over.

If you remember my previous blogskin, the verse written in the header was, "We love becuase He first loved us." - 1 John 4:19
I will not understand the love of a parent (maybe in time to come) so I cant quite grasp the full picture of what it means to love someone unconditionally. but, I know why i have to make that effort to love, cos He first loved me.

Well, i know easier to say. But at least i can try, fail or succeed, at least I've experienced it.

oh! btw, Ive passed my driving! =) phew..

NOTE: I have posted some photos from the zoo trip in that entry. Just scroll down to have a look

My Sister's keeper

Book review

Title: My Sister's Keeper
Author: Jodi Picoult

Rating: 9/10

It's a story about social issues that families would face, favoritism, children feeling like they have to do things to be heard. I'm sure they have some word for it in sociology or social work for such a topic but not sure what. anyway, if you do like such books, do read it. It's pretty good. one of the best fiction non-christian books i've read so far (but i haven read that many too).

warning: it's really sad so be warned.

My zoo experience

The Singapore Zoo

Visited Singapore Zoo today with the Ng family (Pat, Jac, Kyrie, Ryan) and had a fantastic time with them. Thanks Pat for allowing me to go with your family. I was auntie Grace the whole day to Kyrie and i didnt mind it a bit! haha. More about the zoo.. Havent been to the sinagpore Zoological Gardens for say about three years now, so when i got out of the car and stepped into the foyer i was pleasantly surprised. It was really nice. entrance ticket was a little too steep for my liking but i didnt mind a bit than.

You can see that much investment has been pumped into sprucing up the zoo, on going landscape projects were happening, new enclosures, new animals on display.

we didnt really cover the whole zoo today so I intend to take maybe a weekday off to spend some time making my way through all the different enclosures. The children were so tired out after the morning outing that they were both concussed even before Pat dropped me off at the mrt.

Poor things.

Some photos for your pleasure:

The lake house, starring sandra Bullock and Keanu Reeves
View it @ : http://www.apple.com/trailers/wb/thelakehouse/

I really do want to watch this when it comes out cos the storyline is pretty unique and really creative. Well, of course like almost any other girl, I'm a sucker for such pretty love story movies. and well, yes I cry at movies (heh heh so now you all know)

But as i was watching this trailer, reality kindda hit. In real life, Is it possible to like/love a person so much even though you have never met and you have only converse through mails? Dont you need the human interaction to seal it? Can you know someone is meant for you without the face to face interaction? Can we be exactly the same with words as we are in real life?

I wonder.

a long but fruitful day

Today was eventful for me though now my feet are killing me. Much to think through, reflect, consider. Not sure how today actaully helped but it did. Sorry being so coded. Just processing some stuff. =)

Anyway, retail therapy. I realise like any girl, it makes me happy. I may not enjoy shopping (which is true) but when i do feel the urge, it makes me happy, especially during destressing moments. Like today. I bought two new pair of shoes! whoo pee! I have a shoe fetish.

Yes, I do have more shoes than i could wear in a week, but as someone has said (that someone shall remain annoymous), "you can never own too many shoes."

To YAMers in my mom's group: Yes its a want and not a need these shoes. =) but I'm not the daughter she quoted at the first bible study class! (dont think i am anyway)

A packed day

Busy Busy Busy

yesterday was a terrible day of rushing from place to place. Had a nice quiet morning at home, checking emails, looking for resources etc before leaving for church at 1pm to help out with anniversary stuff. Than, it was meeting, meeting, than driving test, followed by missions meeting. was so packed that i got to call for help, SOS. Gen and Candee were so kind to help with the certificates at such a last minute, what with buying paper, to bringing the printer down to sitting at the fellowship deck just printing the certs. Owe you guys big time! ( i know.. be more thickskin right? =) trying.. )

There wasnt time to decompress tiil night time. was feeling really detached by that time, so it was good time of just decompressing in the night, talking it out, reflecting on the events that happened.

Today, was FL anniversary. Thank you all who helped in one way or another. Know i roped many of you last min, like gavin who did the laminating today, bernie, who ordered the cake last min and even light it and cut it.. hhaha , you had a choice to say no, yet you didnt. these are just to name a few. Things were a little haphazard and i was a little flustered being mc. But thanks to a fantastic co-host, raveen. Thank you bro, (if you ever read this) for doing it tgt.

To my J1 gals:
Thank you for loving me and doing the photo frame! It's beautiful and I feel so proud of you guys. =) I know I said this before and I'll say it again, you gals are truly beautiful! I think i get a brief taste of what it's like to have motherly pride (gee.. sounds old, but oh well) Seeing daphane playing accoustic guitar, amanda B and regina looking so pretty as ushers ( you should ask gavin they all, i was gushing the whole day about how pretty you guys were today and how proud of you all i was) audrey for really making the effort to dress up to do ushering with rachel (i peeped into 5pm service to see you two) and jingyu and colleen!

Yes, i agree with Judy, discipleship is never easy. It's a huge committment, with lots of giving and sometimes no returns. But it's really rewarding when there are returns. and i must say, i've been blessed by you gals the past year. there are times i feel frustrated that you guys are not as forthcoming but really i see you all blossoming in your own ways. each of you have your own challenges, joys and pains in life and I know that God has an amazing plan for each of you!

Going to Tiffany's with dotty dotz

Went to Tiffany's @ TAKASHIMAYA with Dotty and my sis to collect Dotty's engagement ring. My first time into Tiffany's... Pretty place with fantastic service and quality jewelery. (well you dont pay so much for nothing right?) Her ring is so so prettty, pictures dont do it justice at all. =)

Afterward, we went for dinner at Cineleisure and Borders before heading home blissfully happy with our little outing. Some photos of the trip:

Updating you guys

realised I haven blogged in awhile. This week has been pretty packed with 7Days stuff for me. Some info for you guys and gals:

7Days is the chinese band of ForeRunner. Made up of largely vounteers, 7Days is a all guy band comprising of 8 guys on stage and 1 off stage (sound guy) As some of you know, I like Chinese music. Currently, I'm the scheduler and advancer for 7Days for their Fall tour.

Just a few days ago, I attended the 7Days retreat. It was really good for me, as i got a taste of what it was like to be 9 guys for an extended period of time. Also, the process of walking through the past (history of 7Days) got me excited and renewed my vision of why I was doing what I was doing. Of all the stuff in ForeRunner, i feel the most for this band. Really, it's such a large market out there for chinese music, yet maybe no chinese band using chinese music to spread the gospel. I only know of 7Days.

So anyway, 7Days retreat lasted for about 1.5 days.

Rick Warren is in town
The past few days, there was a conference held at Newton Life Church. 7Days was the worship band for both mornings and I was helping out as a backup vocalist. Felt a little out of sorts on wed night but shall not dwell into it here cos I'm okay already. =)

Today, met my former disciple Lindy! hahaha, its funny how God allows us to connect back again after so many years. She was in Science for a year (that was when she was my disciple) . afterward, she felt God calling her to social work, so she made the switch to arts. Even though we were technically still in the same school, didnt really see much of her cos of the different fac that we were in. but still meet up here and there to catch up.

anyway, really had a good catching up session with her, hearing what's been happening in her life, the challenges in life she faces, seeing how she is trusting God in every circumstance. I have no part to play in it but its just so amazing! =)

Praise God for who He is, our provider, our lover and our strength!

Breakthrough

Many entries ago, when i posted this song, I was really feeling down and it brought me hope. Today, when i hear this song, my feelings are different. In the past i had to have faith that indeed in His time, God will bring everything to pass. But now, I'm sure and confident of this. So to all of you, trust in Him for as the song goes,
"Hold on to patience and watch for the sign; Everything in its time"

Sometimes I wonder what lies ahead
How long till my hunger is fed
They say it's hard to make it in this part of town
So many people on this merry-go-round

Some folks try astrology
Some turn to crystal balls
To find an answer,
To get through it all
I just fall on my knees and I try to pray
In the silence I can hear Him say

The river runs and the river hides
Out to the ocean and under the sky
I promise you, the answer will come
Hold on to patience and watch for the sign
Everything in its time

I often feel like I'm two steps behind
Somebody must have moved that finish line
There are a thousand reasons
Why I should give up
But I'm stubborn in the things I believe

The river runs and the river hides
Out to the ocean and under the sky
I promise you, the answer will come
Hold on to patience and watch for the sign

'cause maybe there's another plan
One I still can't see
A little surprise, like your love in my life
Funny how time changes how we see

The river runs and the river hides
Out to the ocean and under the sky
I promise you, the answer will come
Hold on to patience and watch for the sign
Everything in its time
Everything in its time

God's Blueprints

God's Blueprints
"God's will, not mine;
His Blueprints not my elementary scribbling;
God's assignment, not my foolish plans."

interesting finds

With time to spare today, I went blog surfiing and found this on someone's blog.
So just for fun, i decided to them as well. get to know me more. =)

You Belong in New York City

You're an energetic, ambitious woman.
And only NYC is fast enough for you.
Maybe you'll set yourself up with a killer career
Or simply take in all the city has to offer.

And since I love coffee,

You Are a Cappuccino

You're fun, outgoing, and you love to try anything new.
However, you tend to have strong opinions on what you like.
You are a total girly girly at heart - and prefer your coffee with good conversation.
You're the type that seems complex to outsiders, but in reality, you are easy to please

Haven Blogged in awhile

Going on mission trip tomorrow.

I'm going on mission trip tomorrow and i'm really excited about it yet a little unprepared. I feel like I'm going in blind, not too sure what to expect, not on top of things. But oh well, my sis's going to be there to ensure no balls are going to be dropped so phew.. not so stressful. would only feel lousy that's all but at least things get done. =)

Really haven been in the right frame of mind to write about my past 4 weeks. Dont really have time to give you a whole spill right now as well. But...

If you wanna find out more about what's been happening in the ForeRunner office recently, have a look at dotz's blog:
http://daddylittlegirldotz.blogspot.com/

alvin's latest entry (http://alvinokh.blogspot.com/)
about the chinese song 遗憾 also struck a chord with me. so do have a read. It's similar but not exactly as well. =)

for photos: go see Daniel's website: http://bullettothehead.multiply.com/photos

Oh well. Many thoughts. Will blog when I've got my thoughts sorted out and when i come back.

So Blessed I am

So Blessed

I have a t-shirt that reads "some girls are born lucky" and I believe i'm one of them. I dont really believe in luck so I'm going to say that I'm blessed. Why? In many areas, family, friends, school, I have been blessed but today, something really made me feel the top of the world.

These bunch of gals are the girls I teach in Frontliners, the youth ministry in my church. I tell you, I love them to bits! I have been teaching them for 4 years now, and truly i've seen them grow so much. =)

Not only are they beauties in the making, they are pure in heart, girls just longing to run after God. Yes they are pretty, but it is what is internally they makes them even more beautiful, more radiant as they shine God's love to others. Truly, this year has been a joy teaching them as i watch them taking initiative to do things, to ask questions. There has been trying moments but amdist all that, i saw them grow closer.

Thank you, for making my day you dearies! Love you all lots!. =)

Be still, stand firm and watch

Monday's devotion really struck a chord in my heart. Back from reservist, P'Sy shared from Exodus 13 and 14. Do read it and meditate upon it when you have the chance but for the benefit of my sharing here, I'll give a summary.

Basically, the Israelites have been set free by their Egyptians masters and are on the road towards the Promise Land. Guided by a pillar of cloud by day and a pillar of fire by night (13:21-22) they went on their journey.

Interestingly, God led them the long way towards the Promised Land (see 13:17-18) and it was also God who hardened Pharoah's heart that caused him to send his best troops, led personally by him to bring his slaves back. (14:4)

In this, God achieved so much. As you read on into chapter 14, you see that God was glorified becuase the army was destroyed and his people, the Israelites became to trust in Him again.

But not without first complaining. In the presence of trouble, even though God's presence has been showed in the plagues in Egypt, as well as the pillars of cloud and fire leading them, they couldnt see His providence.

Verse 13-14
"But Moses told the people, "Don't be afraid. Just stand where you are and watch the LORD rescue you. The Egyptians that you see today will never be seen again. The LORD himself will fight for you. You won't have to lift a finger in your defense!"

Those verses really hit me. These past few weeks have been tough for me as I struggle to hear God's plan in all aspects of my life. I've gone through many bouts of uncertainty, distress and still going through them but I'm reminded the past few days that God will fight this for me. All I really have to do is to stand firm, be still and watch Him pave the way for me.

I haven been still before Him, and I have been reprimanded. Indeed, I haven yielded my life to Him. I can only wait and watch and be in awe of His patience and love for me despite all that I've done.

To Dotty dearest

To Dotty Dearest,

Thank you for being such a great friend, confident, groupie, sweetie etc in my life this past 10 months! I dont think i would have survived as well in ForeRunner without you. =) Really thank God for you, and how you have cheered me on, encouraged me, written me little notes, buy me oranges from cold storage and so much more!

Working with you as been an amazing time for me as we learn to work around each other's weaknesses, supporting one another (msn-ing even though we sit opposite one another! hahaha)

I thank God for you and my prayer is that this new year as an official staff of Campus Crusade will truly be a fulfilling one for you. Dont be stressed during TURT yeah? =) Supporting you all the way! you are doing a terrific job!

Dotz's pink party!

Photo's of Dotz's Pink Party

Dorothea, or more affectionately called 'Dotty Dotz' graduated from GCTC Training and in ForeRunner style, we threw her a pink party! (her fav colour is pink) It was a surprise party held at Sara's place and we were all dressed in pink, even the guys! The place looked absolutely fantastic, with the colour scheme, the flowers, the ribbons. It looked like a bridal shower!

=)

enjoy.

A Fruitful Day Off

An extremely fruitday day off before TURT begins

Gen12ii, Campus Crusade missions sending movement begins tomorrow with a Boot Camp @ PGP. However, even before it begins, we in the office are feeling a little tired already, what with Comm Drills everyday, as well as rehearsals and checkouts happening almost every day for the past two weeks. With all this in mind, I decided to have a breather away from work to refresh in preparation for the 6 weeks ahead.

The day started off early in the morning at 7.30am as my family managed to go for a breakfast together, something we haven done for a might long time what with my sis living in Holland V and I having to reach office by 9am. Because my sis broke her specs yesterday (dun ask me how she did it, she's power) and she's really blind without her specs, she decided to come home yesterday since i was in holland area last night to spend the night. Hence, the morning breakfast.

After sending my mom to work, we came home to laze around! =) Happiness only, as I watched two back episodes of C.S.I, fell asleep for 15mins before I quickly changed to meet a supporter for lunch @ Raffles Place. Haven really done this in a while now, catching up with people who are supporting me financially this one year so it was really good to catch up, to find out what's up with them as well as update them on a personal level what's up with me as well as what my plans are in the coming months.

After that, it was off to get 'I not stupid too' from Andrew near KK hospital so that i could watch it in the afternoon. Really pretty good show I thought, though a little over the top lah. Issues that were brought up in the show are pretty real issues we face in singapore though a tad too drama to be real. Made me realise how blessed indeed i am. I cried at the heart-wreching scenes(what to do, sucker for emotional stuff in movies + super powerful tear ducts) , like... okay wont spoil the movie for those of you who haven watched it yet. But do go and watch it, pretty good for a locally produced movie. Oh! and the cute boys from 'I not stupid' have grown into dashing young man! =)

After which, it was time to meet up with my mom @ my grandparents place where I was treated to FANTASTIC FOOD! Oh my gosh, indeed, my grandma is one of the best cooks around! (I'm serious) I usually dun have a second helping but tonight, the food was just too good to resist! One of the dishes is termed by my uncles as 'corney chicken' cos it taste like the corney dog sauce from A&W last time. I ate and ate and i felt so stuffed that i had trouble breathing. Such great food can only eat once in a while. If not, will spoil my healthy plan.
Indeed, my little cousin, though he has a glib tongue is right when he told my grandma this, "Mama, you are the best cook in the world! " hahaha.

oh and this year, my grandparents are celebrating their 60th anniversary of marriage. Diamond Wedding. Was looking at their 50th anniversary wedding photos and it was really sweet. This year, it's going to be a big bash once again like ten years ago. we all have roles to play and stuff.
Shall keep you guys in suspense as it approaches. But will definitely blog about it.

60 years of marriage. Isnt that amazing? Being married to the same person for 60 years? My gosh. My granddad is 81 this year while my grandma is 78. He was 21, she was 18. a tender age to be married but i guess that's not too young during those times after the war. Well, to all of you, this is proof that it's possible! to be married for 60 years, and still survive and love one another as much as the day you get married.

Hence, all in all, a great day i had. As i end the day, my mind begins to prepare for work tomorrow and i realise that i've many things to complete by this weekend!

every vote counts!

1215hr, I voted .
My voting location? Chai Chee Secondary School. Parties in contest for my vote (and the whole EAST COAST GRC), PAP vs WP.

Actually I almost forgot about voting as I got ready to go out. My mom reminded me about it. "are you going to vote before you go?" She asked. "Oh yeah!" I quickly got changed and together with my sis (first time voters) we walked to Chai Chee Secondary.
Didnt really know what to expect at the polling station. Crowds? Hoards? Banners still being waved? Well, for those of you who are underage and do not have to vote, let me tell you, there were none.

It was surprisngly quiet and slow going. People were trickling in not by the hundreds but by the tens. Everything was in order of course. As you stepped into the school, we were greeted by presiding officers who will check your polling ticket against your IC. Once you've gone through that, off you go into the lane that has been demarked for you to follow into the canteen. In there you will see a simple setup of three lanes, in which you have been preassigned on your slip. So off you go into that lane to wait in line for your voting slip.

As you approach the table, your name is read out loud and clear and you are ticked off the list to be 'present' =) . 'You' are than passed on to the next person who will tear off a voting slip for you, not before he reads out your full name out and clear once again. As he tears it out, the serial number that is on your polling ticket is written down on the stub left behind in the booklet. (for what purpose i do not know, give them the benefit of the doubt ah)

You walk towards the flimsy looking 3 part partition temporarily set up and you vote. It's that simple. Fold it up afterward and drop it into the common, uniform brown rectangular box in the centre as you leave.

There. I've done it. I voted. I made a stand. Now it's time to see the counts and what the people say.

Heh heh.. but yeah lah ... it has been really interesting just following the general election news.

Check this guy out! isnt he cute? =) Orh.. and he's really nice to me .. too bad, he's my cousin. why must you be my cousin! If not i can have a crush on you.. haha

here's the photo i sent to you. Thanks for everything.. offering to drive me around. =) touched.

mom and caleb

'stole' these photos from ben's blog. =) the top one is one of caleb and my mom. Look how happy they both look. hahaa. my sis and i are in trouble.. =) anyway, i'm known to look like a carbon copy of my mom what do you guys think?

angels in disguise

A day that started off sad but ending in joy.

I failed my driving test again. My second try and some of you guys might know i was really upset. Dont really know why i was so upset, why i was frustated and why i even cried. Isnt it really silly? Upon reflection, I reprimand myself for being such a silly tweerp. but at that moment, i was upset and nothing could comfort me as i began to realise the need to spend more money on driving, more time and effort on doing things which I already know and have done. and i feel bad for letting my driving instructor down. Mr Ng is really a good instructor. An optimist in all aspects, he teaches me to drive defensively. I have argued with him sometimes when he picks on me more than i can bear but i know its for my own good. He has more faith in me than i do. Both times, he tot i would pass but than, i always shock him by coming out with boo boos. oh well.

But the beautiful part of this day was the care i got from pple, who showed my God's love for me. let me explain. Mr Ng couldnt send me back to bedok interchange cos he got anothe student to pick up so i took a bus back to bedok interchange. (he offered to wait for me but i paiseh already) When i got to the interchange, i decided to go to parkway to drown my sorrows in mos burger ice milk tea (which always makes me happy) so there i went , to wait for the bus. Still upset and a little stoned from crying on the bus, i sat down on the bench situated between the 196 and 197 bus line. while stoning and trying to reply pple's msgs, this really sweet muslim lady asked if the seat next to me was vacant and i said yes. Wasnt in the mood to strike up a conversation with her so i just smiled my usual smile and prepared to go back to stoning.

she surprised me by initiating a conversation with me, asking me first about whether 196 goes to parkway and how she was waiting for her friend to arrive. and in that short period of time, i found out that she was a retired school teacher with 35 years of full time teaching in her bag. and an additional 5 years of relive teaching. even now in her seventies, she sometimes goes back to teach. I asked her whether she taught only Malay and she said no, she also taught PE and english. on top of that, she was telling me how she still ran with the students when she relieve teach. Wow, i was impressed.

a vibrant lady, she held the conversation well with me and i really had a good time as i waited for my bus and she waited for her friend. For that portion of time, she made me forget about the driving test and it lifted up my spirits immediately after that as i boarded the bus. God knew and he brought her alongside. Some of you might be convinced that, 'aiyah, coincidence lah' but i choose not to. =)

not only that, after the test, i decided i needed to just take the rest of the day off and sms my boss to said that i will be taking leave. He was really kind and he gave me the rest of the day off. Thanks p'sy! really grateful =)

also, thanks to all you guys and gals who tried to console me. =)
oh! and to those in the office who sms me, thank you thank you! really feel loved, by your sms of encouragement. =) Thank you for 'sayang-ing' me...
I'm better. and haha i know, jus do again. most prob just now savvy enough (girl also mah)

You know this day started out blue but at the end of the day i feel new (cheesy i know), for God brought to my life today angels in the form of you guys. =)

A little tip and advice, simple little gestures of care and concern can go a long way. who knows when you will be an angel to someone else. =)

Just like this song:

angels in Disguise by Corrinne May

I woke up this morning feeling kind of blue
and I stumbled out of bed
and dragged my feet across the room
Right outside my front door was a rose
and a note that said 'Somebody Loves You'

But out on the street it starts to pour
and before I get soaking wet,
A total stranger runs to give me
the jacket off his back
I turn around to thank him
But he waves me with a smile
I can hardly believe my eyes
He puts on a halo and starts to fly

Take a look at the ordinary
Don't need to look at Paradise
You could be next to
an angel in disguise

I met a good friend for lunch
and we had a delicious meal
But I forgot to bring my wallet
I felt like an imbecile
But she was sweet, she gave me a treat and
Bought me a chicken sandwich
To take home for tea

But out on the street with nothing to eat
A man and his shopping cart go
Travelling to places,
Collecting social graces
I give him my sandwich
and we chatter for a while
I see a rainbow wash over his eyes
He gives me his halo and
I start to fly

Take a look at the ordinary
Don't need to look for Paradise
You could be next to an angel in disguise

Don't try to hide away from me
I know you're by my side

Take a look at the ordinary
Don't need to look for Paradise
You could be next to
an angel in disguise
Everyday can be legendary
Every minute, an endless surprise
You could be the next angel in disguise

I woke up this morning
Feeling kind of new.

Mr Beasley

Mr Beasley
Artist: Corrinne May

You don't have to drive a fancy car
Don't have to quote me Shakespeare
Just to woo me
Yeah I see your nervous laughter
When you're trying to crack some joke
Well you don't fool me

I'd like to see your eyes through those goggles that you're wearing
Don't try to hide away

*Just be yourself Mr. Beasley
I don't need your show of attitude
Cos it's your soul that makes me fall in love with you
Fall in love with you

You don't notice but I see you
In the church when you are praying
You just move me
And my friend Sue she tells me
You've been teaching kids for free
Mr Philanthropy

I'd like to see your eyes through those goggles that you're wearing
Don't try to hide away

*Just be yourself Mr. Beasley
I don't need your show of attitude
Cos it's your soul that makes me fall in love with you
Fall in love with you

Macdonald fries and me

Mac fries and me

My stomach has rejected mac fries. The past two times I've eaten it, (once today and once when i met chris to do some easter stuff) my stomach was a little funny after that. not exactly a stomachache of sorts but just not comfortable.

after these two incidents, told myself, i'm not going to eat so much fries. Why create trouble for my stomach? It could be my diet (intake of food recently) which has attunded my stomach to be not able to take the oil and the carbs. Not too sure.

Oh well.

Today, was a day of recce at work as we went to check out Aloha Changi for our TURT Alpha Camp as well as our Thanksgiving venue, most likely to be Hard Rock Cafe. It was a pretty fruitful trip for both. Just a little too bad we couldnt really see the inside of the bungalow. There were people in it but nevertheless it's the same one from NSTD so shouldnt be that bad

It's really near the boardwalk so we are planning to have sunrise service there one of the mornings. If any of you have not been there and you are the type that like natures, you would like this place. Best to go at sunrise or sunset (evening time) cos the sun's not blazing and its more windy. A good place to be silent.

TURT 2006

The Ultimate Road Trip 2006

One of the projects I'm currently in the thick of action right now, is THE ULTIMATE ROAD TRIP, or more affectionately called TURT by us in the FR office, This year, it is made up of 8 students, 4 babes and 4 dudes. they are a really cool bunch of students who are around my age. and to think that i'm a staff and they are students? No way, it is difficult to draw the line. =)

each one of them (you see below) are different in personality and that is what makes it such a cool band this year. You see each one's character being portrayed in different ways, each one contributing a vital aspect to the band. This hasnt really been seen yet but i'm sure that i will see it in the days to come. In summary, i'm really excited about this band..

p.s. Couldnt put the photo i dun really know why..

Tired real tired

the past few days have really been just tiring. Yesterday, fell asleep while doing some reading at the dining table, today fell asleep on the way home and only woke up as the bus was turning into the bus depot. Urgh.. even now, really tired physically and no energy and motivation to do anything.

Oh boy.. But thanks to the ForeRunner pple today at work for praying for me during Team Prayer. i'm really juggling a lot of stuff right now. finding it hard to handle them all with style and efficicency. dropping some balls here and there.

Pls pray for me.. with easter camp coming up, as well as stuff back home, pls pray i will survive this april with God's grace. =)

In God's time

and this song reminds me to press on, to hold on to God and what He has promised. To learn to trust in His time. cos it will happen or there may be another plan that i cannot see. who knows, only time will tell.

Sometimes I wonder what lies ahead
How long till my hunger is fed
They say it's hard to make it in this part of town
So many people on this merry-go-round

Some folks try astrology
Some turn to crystal balls
To find an answer,
To get through it all
I just fall on my knees and I try to pray
In the silence I can hear Him say

The river runs and the river hides
Out to the ocean and under the sky
I promise you, the answer will come
Hold on to patience and watch for the sign
Everything in its time

I often feel like I'm two steps behind
Somebody must have moved that finish line
There are a thousand reasons
Why I should give up
But I'm stubborn in the things I believe

The river runs and the river hides
Out to the ocean and under the sky
I promise you, the answer will come
Hold on to patience and watch for the sign

'cause maybe there's another plan
One I still can't see
A little surprise, like your love in my life
Funny how time changes how we see

The river runs and the river hides
Out to the ocean and under the sky
I promise you, the answer will come
Hold on to patience and watch for the sign
Everything in its time
Everything in its time

God you keep me safe

But amidst it all, I always go back to this song, that always reminds me that God is there for me. Thank you Corrinne May, for helping me to articulate my tots, my emotions.

SAFE IN A CRAZY WORLD - BY CORRINNE MAY
I try to smile my tears away,
I try to keep my cool.
Oh but one more door gets in my way
I feel like such a fool
Trampled and bitter,
My heart just wants to bleed and stop Believing in me.

It feels like nothing is for certain
and that nothing comes for free
When they're lowering the curtain to the theatre of my dreams
I stumble and i crumble and I'm sinking to my knees for you
You cradle me

You keep me flying
You keep me smiling
You keep me safe in a crazy world
You understand me
Embrace my fragility
You keep me safe in a crazy world
And in your arms I find the strength to believe in me again

Noise keeps chasing me
No matter where I go
Oh and life likes pretending that it's on a TV show
When it's hard to tell what's real
From what the world just wants to preach
You are the voice I seek

You keep me flying
You keep me smiling
You keep me safe in a crazy world
You understand me
Embrace my fragility
You keep me safe in a crazy world
And in your arms I find the strength to believe in me again

'cause when I'm wrapped up in your arms
Nothing else can touch me
What a wonderful way to recharge
I feel like I can breathe again

You keep me flying
You keep me smiling
You keep me safe in a crazy world
You understand me
Embrace my fragility
You keep me safe in a crazy world
And in your arms I find the strength to believe in me again

Little superhero girl I'm not

a little superhero girl I'm not. When things overwhelmes me, I feel like this song, I sing:

I feel like a little girl
Trying to conquer the whole wild world
Everybody wants a piece of me
And I just don't know where to run
I've got work piled up to my head
All I want to do is jump into bed
And wash away my troubles with lemonade
Play hide and seek with the boy next door
Take a trip to Singapore
And imagine how i'll make the world a better place

All I need is a good disguise
One where nobody can recognize
That I'm feeling so small
All I need is a secret weapon
I've gotta have faith
Zapping monsters into outer space
I'm gonna be a Superhero

Na-na-na-na...

If I were a little girl
Trying to clean up the whole wide world
I'd kick the bad boys back to school
Teach them fighting's just not cool
I'd give every kid a teddy bear
Turn starving people into millionaires
Break glass ceilings with dynamite
Sprinkle a little sugar and spice
Turn the bullies that terrorize
Into pink poodles that bark but don't bite

All I need is a good disguise
One where nobody can recognize
That I'm feeling so small
All I need is a secret weapon
I've gotta have faith
Zapping monsters into outer space
I'm gonna be a Superhero

Na-na-na-na...

Little Superhero Girl
Little Superhero Girl
Save me
Little Superhero Girl
Little Superhero Girl
Save me from myself

I feel like a little girl
Trying to conquer the whole wide world

seafood dinner

this evening, my mom treated us to a seafood dinner at east coast park cos she recently got an award at work. Being a family of small eaters, we only had like 3 dishes (and we didnt even order 4 rice). One Sri Lankan Crab - claws were huge!, slice fish (super fresh) and squid. =) It was a yummy dinner. Afterward, we took a walk by the lagoon to the hawker centre for me to grab a cup of ginger tea while they got ice jelly and mango something or other. Oh yeah, before that, while they were paying the bill, my sis and I went to take a look at the live seafood on display Have any of you guys seen an Alaskan Crab before? It's huge! the legs are super long lah and it's like the size of my laptop and that's only the body! =)

Also, we noticed that only non-asians were given plastic bibs to wear when eating the crab (whether it was pepper or chili). Asian customers werent given any. Wonder y? =)

simple trival

While accompanying Jansen this afternoon in church, he entertained me with some questions that i'm going to post up here. Feel free to try them. Don't think too hard. think simple and its really very easy.

1.

Put nine pigs into 8 boxes.

2. Use 4 '9's and create an equation which will give you 100. you can use addition, subtraction, multiplication and division

3. 99 + 9 - 9 = 100

Add one change to make this equation correct. Can be a stroke, a no. etc.

Have fun! =)

Stuff in my life

Just some random stuff

Time: 0121hr, and I'm still awake. Oh dear, am I going to be awake tomrrow? Today has been a pretty good day. Ill-disciplined but yet fruitful. =) Watched X-Men 2 on DVD this morning and wasted my whole morning away but was glad i watched it.. =) Just so cant wait for X-Men3 to come out!

Played for Hans today at YAM and as usual, she only gives me the songs during practise time (no worries dear, i'm cool with it, as long as the chords and key is there) It was fun, as we practise, singing them out loud, enjoying ourselves. Haha. Thanks gal for allowing me to play for you. It was fun! =)

Than i saw little Caleb! Oooo.. My happy drug has lost some wait, no longer so chubby anymore but still ever so adorable. He let me carry him around without looking for mummy so that was really cool. He can say a few things now, like 'dop', 'dada' and he is extremely cheeky and 'tan chi' aka greedy. =) But all in all, still my happy drug! I would go to ben's blog everytime i feel down just to look at the pics of little caleb and he will cheer me up tremedously. =)

After that, had a catch up session with Hans at Siglap. really glad things are back to normal as we talked and talked and talked.. what to do girls.. just talk and talk and talk.. =)

Lizards and me

Lizards, my no. one enemy

If you want to hear me scream in a high pitch voice not purposely but on a reflex action, just hide a house lizard (baby or huge whatever) somewhere so that it will jump up on me. Serious

Just now, came home from dinner with my parents. As usual, I would go over to the dining table to put down my bag, see whether there are any mail for me etc. When i lifted up some piece of paper, suddenly, a baby lizard flew up from underneath towards me and landed on the floor near my feet. (i'm not kidding.. it flew.. out of shock maybe) and of course my reaction: scream and run away to someplace on higher ground - this time, the staircase nearby. =(

Most of you who know me know that I'm generally not squirmish. I pick up cockroaches, bettles, bugs without any hesitation. But lizards... bleah whole different matter. Dont really know why, but its most prob a result of past experiences where the lizard fell on me while i was washing my hands at my grandma's house, finding dead lizards in the fridge in extremely weird situations (ask me sometime), seeing black looking lizards jumping out when i open my cupboard... You get the idea.

But on hindsight, the poor lizard. after the little incident, it didnt run away/dissapear. It was in one corner of the living room in clear sight, half on the wall, half on the floor. And there it was for a while. My mum's theory was it was in shock. So in shock that it couldnt climb back up the wall. she said, "I think you scared the poor fella, he's dead already lah." Haha.. Than, i felt a little guilty for screaming so loudly. Maybe i broke his ear drums or something (dun even know if lizards have ear drums)

Pretty sure he didnt die of shock cos i went back to check the corner and it was gone.

Sigh.. Lizards, Mr L, the bane of my life. =9

Some photos I found on the web of Kent Ridge Park

Kent Ridge Park

Location : Vigilante Drive off South Buona Vista Road. Access via Vigilante Drive, Science Park Drive and Pepys Road.

Size : 47 ha

Team meeting today was at Kent Ridge Park (much to the envy of many i'm sure) all 11 of us climbed into the van and off we went to Kent Ridge Park. If you have not been there before, there is a gazebo there at the top of a little hill which sits 8 comfortably. It has a great view of the sea! nicely shaded and windy (today, not sure about normal times) it's a really peaceful place to go to, to think, to talk, to have a retreat. we ate breakfast there, a fellowship of bee hoon (come on its true lor guys.. hee, great minds think alike?) and had a round of completing the statements, thanks to Joy. Quite fun really hearing what people have to say, their pet peeves as well as what they would do if they were in xxx situations and stuff like that. Than it was an update time of things happening in the ministry now that there are multiple things happening in the ministry at one time. =) nice.

Too bad there isnt a photo of the gazebo.

The afternoon was pretty cool too when xiao yang came by to pick us up for lunch in his dad's car.. wa zooming around ah.. dun worry i'm not upset if you for passing first *big small* (there dun so i very curt.. =p) Thanks really for doing that, i really had a good time at spizza as we talked about man and woman. Hope you got insights rather than more frustrated with woman. =0

Because i haven been in office for 4 days, there was a lot of catching up to do at work, sorting out issues and stuff like that. Not all fun when there is miscommunications at work but i guess that's part and parcel of work.

Than after that, Tingni came all the way from the east to pick me up! (eh really grateful =)) So that we could meet BX (my ex-DGL) for dinner (post brithday celebration & catch up session). so all in all, eventful day.

Oh! and Joanne messaged from Texas! =) Ooo. hearing from hear was really nice. Hope you are doing well dear.. we miss you at mentoring. we just met up on sunday .. talked like for 4-5 hours. Come back soon! =)

Thank you God

An Eventful Day.

Many things to give thanks for, many things to question as well. The day started off well as I was off today on retreat. Spent the whole morning just reading God's word, doing my devotions finishing up books which i started a while back. Hearing God, listening to his word for me, just sitting with him in the silence of my home was a good reminder that i do nothing out of my own strength but it is by God's strength that i'm here. Many times this is how i feel:

Journey - Corrinne May

It's a long long journey
Till I know where I'm supposed to be
It's a long long journey
And I don't know if I can believe
When shadows fall and block my eyes
I am lost and know that I must hide
It's a long long journey
Till I find my way home to you

Many days I've spent
Drifting on through empty shores
Wondering what's my purpose
Wondering how to make me strong

I know I will falter
I know I will cry
I know you'll be standing by my side
It's a long long journey
And I need to be close to you

Sometimes it feels no one understands
I don't even know why
I do the things I do
When pride builds me up till I can't see my soul
Will you break down these walls and pull me through

Cause it's a long long journey
Till I feel that I am worth the price
You paid for me on Calvary
Beneath those stormy skies

When Satan mocks and friends turn to foes
It feels like everything is out to make me lose control
Cause it's a long long journey
Till I find my way home to you
To you

God wasnt just going to let me escape with a theory lesson in the morning. In the evening, as I did some self-study, I was forced to remember constantly that He is my strength and portion. I was ready to give up, to say I just cant do this God, when He helped me. I felt extremely lonely just sitting there at starbucks studying and at that point, i received an sms from my mom saying that she was at the library drinking coffee. I couldnt contain the smile that emerged from my face. They came (my parents) and they accompanied me for the rest of the time. Providing me the company and assurance that I can do this and that God meets my needs at all times.

On top of this all, my friend shared with me about a situation at home. Dun know how to help you but if you need to talk, just tell me k? =)

Tree Top walk

Tree Top Walk

For the first time in a long while now, my family went on an outing together. We participated in a neighbourhood community visit to the Tree Top Walk at MacRitchie Reservoir this morning. 2 bus loads of pple, of different ages loaded up onto the air-conditioned bus as we made our way.

If you were to go online to check out the route, you would see that the whole route takes about 10 km. However, cos of the vast age group we went with, we took the shortcut starting from SIRCC (i think thats whats its called). IT was a really short walk to the suspension bridge.

When we got there, we all fiiled in one single fiile onto the suspension bridge and cos of the large no., we couldnt stop on the bridge. All we could do was to walk along. Soak in as much as you can while you are on that 200m platform.. and that's it! signs that said "DO NOT TURN BACK" were found at the end of the bridge. (my friend xiuling who went with us too some photos but will take some time to upload them)

All in all, i think i wanna go back. This time, i'm going to take the 10km walk. Not challenging enough leh the short route. =)

anyone interested?

last night and tonight

Last night and tonight

I have been having late nights the past few nights.. Wed & Thur was in church for prayer and Alpha respectively. Yesterday, went out with the FR ladies and Bangster Band guys aft they got off from work. we ate at crystal jade la mian @ holland v and than trooped down to wala wala to catch EIC perform. =) was really cool, had loads of fun just talking and teasing one another . wish i could have stayed longer to hear more of EIC, but had to go off early. That place is really smoky though. daniel said he had to wash his hair like 3 times just to get the smell out! =p

see photo of me @ crystal jade:

and @ wala with daniel and my sis:

Tonight, attended a cousin's wedding at Indochine waterfront! whoo hoo. I love that place. Very 'chi chi' my sis and i would say (very hip and happening, a little posh etc) but yet the atmosphere was so nice to relax and chill. Food was good too. They invited all guests into the bar first for champagne, before we were all ushered to the dining area for a meal of asian fusion food. Ah... wanna go back again! but its erm kind of a little more ex than usual. Never mind.. shall save up to go back and soak up the music and atmosphere! =)

Tomorrow, my whole family is going for tree top walk in the morning. Our first family outing since a long time. should be quite interesting and fun =) not doing the whle 10km (Cos its a neighbourhood thing and the age range is large) but doing a short cut. so doing 4 km and tree top walk. =)

Discovery

Discovery

At Stint Touchpoint today, jie (my sis) shared with us (the Stinters in the office + dotz) about adjusting into ForeRunner. It was a session that she went through at Keynote (music ministry of the US CCC) Pretty interetsing i must say. The main bulk of the session was spent on going through a pyrimid in which there were different types of adjustments. It looks like something below:

it was really interesting reflecting on which stage i was in now at work as well as in other areas. It occured to us that this pyrimid could be used in virtually anything. The process of starting a new band, in a marriage, at school etc.

Learning to Forgive

Luke 23:24
"and Jesus said, "Father, forgive them; for they know not what they do." And they cast lots to divide his garments

Many of you have asked me about my previous post. Yeap, i'm okay and i have been reminded of one thing: forgiveness. The devotion for the first sunday of lent was on forgivensss and how Jesus even in his utmost pain, taught about forgiving others first.

An exerpt from devotion:
" Forgiveness is a fundamental need in the world today.... Jesus lives up to His own prayer to forgive even when His life was so cruelly and cynically trampled on. What does the Lord's prayer mean to us especially when it comes to forgivesness?"

I had to forgive, and i have forgiven. =)

Gen12ii has began

Gen12ii, the student sending missions movement of Campus Crusade where i'm currently working begins today! In a few hours time, i will be meeting the students who are involved in this year's TURT- The Ultimate Road Trip, Music Missions. I'm really excited what God has in store for them and how they bond, how they relate to one another. There's onlyl 8 of them this year, the smallest of the three years.

Aside from them happening, today was a little upsetting for me. Heard things which made me angry at xxx. Why should xxx have the right to say the things xxx said? Good Grief. Dun really know how to proceed so my follow-thru step? Sleep over it and see how tomorrow. Tomorrow! Tomorrow, i lurve ya, tomorrow, youre only a day away!
=) Night everyone.

Understanding of Matthew 7

Understanding of Matthew 7

1.
Effective prayer is when you, keep on asking, keep on looking and keep on knocking. If you are to do this, you will be given what you ask for, you will find and the door will be opened. (paraphrase of Matt 7:7)

This reminds me of what Suzanne shared with me before, “Keep on pounding on the door, keep on asking for an answer.”

When you keep on ASKING, trusting and knowing that your Father in Heaven only wants what is best for you, (Jeremiah 29:11- “For I know the plans I have for you, … plans for good and not disaster, to give you a future and a hope.”) he will GIVE and you will FIND that DOOR that will be OPENED.

2.
“Beware of false prophets who come disguised as harmless sheep, but are really wolves that will tear you apart. You can detect them by the way they act (outward action), just as you can identify a tree by its fruit… … A healthy tree produces good fruit and an unhealthy tree produces bad fruit… Yes, the way to identify a tree or a person is by the kind of fruit that is produced.” --- Matthew 7: 15-17, 20

The outward action of a person is the way to identify him as a disciple or not. Like the analogy above, a person who is not a disciple of Christ is not able to obey the Father, to abide in Him.

However, be warned in your life that while you might be producing the ‘right’ kind of fruit in your life, what is the motive behind it, obedience in God? Check out the subsequent verses that follow:

Verse 21
“Not all people who sound religious are really godly… the decisive issue is whether they obey my Father in heaven”

Jesus even goes on to say that those who do such ‘godly things’ are evildoers (NIV), unlawful, unauthorized!

Oh boy, so how?

I’ve come to learnt that as much as the Word warns us things to look out for, it never leaves us hanging. Read on in Matthew 7 and you will see that the solution to being a good tree is clearly stated.

“Anyone who listens to my teaching and obeys me is wise…But anyone who hears my teaching and ignores it is foolish…”

And I know that the Holy Spirit in us will teach us the teachings, show us what God is saying to us. Our part? Obedience. =)

Chinese New Year 2006

CNY and situation at home

Chinese New Year has been really up and down this time round. Up cos of many things, like the ang pows of course, and spending time with my core family and my extended family. Took loads of photos which i will post tomorrow. 2nd day saw us going down to Meridien Changi located near Changi Village. The weather was great and we all trooped to the pool for a lesuirely afternoon swim to soak up the sun. It felt so good. Got a tan and a cool off on a hot hot day esp after suffering from insomnia the night before (which resulted me in watching gilmore girls the whole nite) check out the pool we were swimming in. The view is amazing too! Check out the room too, one thing that is interesting is the bathrooms have glass sides facing the bed. (with curtains of course if you need the privacy) All very "honeymoony" if there is such a word.

A funny little incident that happened though was my poor cousie Siew San (aka jason) was mistaken for my boyfriend again. Haha you super poor thing. If you are reading this, i forgot to mentioned it to you but Sherwin (tracy's bf) tot you were my boyfriend and not a relative! I'm sorry le.. what to do, we look compatible together.
