Going to Toorah over the Anzac weekend

The long weekend that just passed, I had the opportunity to explore teh state of Victoria a little. My bible study group in the suburbs (northern Connect) decided to take a trip out to Toorah, a little suburb on the outskirts of Melbourne.

not sure how to describe the trip but it was a good trip out for me. Long weekends have been scary for me so having this opportunity to get out and be amongst people was good. Here are some photos i took. Have a look at this websit for the rest of the photos:

buying a toaster

While visiting U.Jimmy & A.Rose one day at their new place, they showed me a small toaster that they had bought at BIG W for $30. It has a timer function as well as a temperature function which allows me to moderate the temperature settings. I thought that was really useful cos currently the other thing i have is a upright bread toaster which is ABSOLUTELY USELESS. Seriously.all it can do is toast bread and only the slices type not anything else.

I do have a microwave but its a really lousy one. i dare not do anything more than just heating up food in plastic containers. SO... after deliberating for about 2 weeks or so, i decided to buy it! It was an impulse buy (in some sense) cos i knew that if i thought more about it, i would say, oh well, only a few months more blah blah.. so heck it, i bought it and tot of the possibilties with a baking function and a grilling function.

SO I'm really happy! =) and when you think about it, 30 bucks for 6 months usage (minimum) thats like 5 bucks a month and like 1 dollar a week! (not counting electrical usage lah) and i can still toast my bread!

So i'm happy today. Sometimes i get too caught up with saving money, using my money wisely that it becomes my stronghold. Need to learn the fine balance being a good steward and using it wisely.

ONE MORE DAY TO MISS CHAN's ARRIVAL >>>>> =)

Biblical principles vs Personal conviction

Romans 4: 1-15
"..who are you to judge?"

Yesterday, i was part of an afterwork conversation, talking about boyfriends, partners and just our lives outside of hospital. During that conversation, what i heard surprised me. One girl has been engaged for 2 years and planning to get married early next year. Her 'partner' proposed to her 2 years ago when she was 18 and he was 19. The other girl, just broke up with her boyfriend but still misses him and would go back to him if he asks her to. But he used to beat her, cheat on her and says he wants his freedom back. Another girl, mentioned that her multivitamins have the words, 'making healthy babies' which freak the bf out. and she had to assure him that no she's not pregnant.

while the latter is more of a guess work and assumptions, these stories made me pass unspoken judgement in my head. Do not get me wrong, i didnt condemn  them or anything like that but all the same, this morning's QT reminded me not to judge, not to finger point.

The decisions people make are their own. Just like Roman 14 says re food. What one person eats is their own decision, just like the proverb thats says, 'one's man meat is another man's poison.'

While pre-marital sex is definitely more than just my own personal conviction (it's a biblical principle, for sex is more than just sex. it's about intimacy), the others (like man hitting woman, what age is the 'mature' age to set engagements) are my own personal convictions.

Its challenging to remain neutral and keep my thoughts in check. BUt i need to for i really do care for these people and hope one day that i have the opportunity to tell them more about the love that knows no boundaries i found with God.
