What kind of fisher are you?

It's a public holiday here in Singapore as our Indian community celebrates Deepavali- the Festival of Lights. This festival is not their new year but just one of the many festivals, light our Mid-Autumn Festival.

So anyway, I spent some time @ the bedok jetty this morning, people watching and getting lost in my own thoughts. (felt good not studying, not having that anxious feeling of not being able to finish studying) As i observed the people around me, I saw a great diversity of people there, mainly fishing.

A normal occasion @ bedok jetty would only provide me with the usual suspects - retired eldery man with much time on your hands, who come here to pass time and to catch up with friends and of course.. catch some fish.

However, it was a rare sight today. People of all ages were there. The young, the old, the middle age; the girls, the boys, the aunties and of course (you guessed it) the uncles.

Personally, I have always found fishing a boring sport. You throw your rod in, you wait and wait and wait for the bait. What excitement is there? But as i look on to the enthusiastic bunch @ bedok jetty, i realised there's more to it.

The "experienced - Uncle" fishing :
These uncles come on their own, greeting others like them whom they often meet on their regular trips here. They are really patient i must say. they come prepared, with their hats, styrofoam boxes and a packet of bread all ready to hang out for the day. Experience is written all over them as they expertly place their bait on the rod to how they throw/toss the rod. Perseverance is the no. 1 characteristic that binds them together.

The "ambitious young punk" fishing :
These young boys (amazed to even see them) come as a group. With shining new rods, they congregate in a group and start comparing baits. They are really ambitious too. They use small fishes as baits and throw/toss their rods really far off in the open seas. (the max 30 m i should think). Maybe they are trying to get a good catch. what is their motivation? Get a good catch, catch a big one!

The "father-teacher" fishing :
These man/woman are here for a larger reason beyond catching fish. They are here to teach their son/daughter a new skill, the art of fishing. Even if they go home empty handed, they are satisfied seeing their child(ren) mastering the art of fishing. Most have the wife in toll, umbrella in one hand. Well prepared food and beverage is a definite feature in this group. Motivation? To have a time of family bonding and teach their children a life skill.

The "trying-out" fishing :
This category of Singaporeans tend to belong to a younger age group, children of the former group. Some are really enthusiastic in trying to learn whilst some sit around in the shade and jump when a live fish caught is placed near them.

A lot more thoughts, but need to think through them. so watch out for part two.

For now, a thought, what type of fisher are you?

boredom

When Grace blogs twice in a day, she's bored. Today has been a day of not doing much. I'm bored, feeling guilty for not studying but yet not feeling motivated enough to study. Hope tomorrow will be better.

Political Blogs - the voice of Gen X

While browsing through the newspaper today, i saw an interesting article on bloggers in the Straits Times Home Section. They were featuring a specific type of bloggers, political bloggers. Ever since i started doing HY2229, Nation-Building, I started to be more aware of our local political situation, hence this caught my eye. How many of us safely know that we are up to date with the changing policies (they constantly are - esp education policies) I for one am not.

With no zest to start my studying yet, i decided to surf the web looking for such blogs.
one such blog is by Xenoboy. others include, Vox Leo, Singabloodypore. Go check them out when you have the time.

One thing the i noticed from the article is this:
Many of the political bloggers are students who are currently studying overseas. Why this trend? Is it the heightened awareness of studying overseas, looking at our homeland from a telescopic view?
If this is the voice of Gen X (generation which is afraid to even speak up in class) Where are the voices of the local students? do we have no interest in our political state? Are we only caught up in ourselves, school, work, marriage? Go figure.

Picnic @ NUS Campus
Occasion: Weekly Tuesday Lunch Appointment with Joanne and Charmaine in
school
Location : We planned it to be a picnic on the green patch outside lt 11. However it
rained, so we proceeded with wet weather plan, arts forum
Every week, the three of us (sometimes judy will join us) would go try out new places to eat on campus. Today, we tau pau food. Joanne made mashed potato (from scratch!) and tuna and chicken mayo on which we could spread it on Delifrance frech loaf. It was really fun just opening up our packed lunch, sitting on the steps of the forum, chit chatting and noticing the people who walked passed. Met Joy Ho too, and she came by to join us in our lunch meeting.
Really treasure these lunch meetings i have with them once a week, where we come and chill, talk, share our school struggles, ministry and occasionally pray when we spcially take time (=p.. 2 hours is never enough!) It's actually a weekly mentoring session that all 3 of us are in (under Judy aka youth worker) since we are all part of the Frontliners's Committee back in church.
The semester is coming to a close and exams are nearing. To all my fellow NUS, NTU, SMU friends, all the best for the coming exams!

Tiredness, Flu, Mid term stress

In the past 2 days, i must have used up at least 10 packets of tissue packets of different plys (i.e. 2 ply, 3 ply etc) I can tell you this: if you have a flu with mucus constantly flowing out, better to use a 3 ply tissue pack as it is more absorbant, and doesnt break so easily hence preventing the tissue bits from aggrevating your nose even more. My nose is runny, my eyes are teary... As Eewah puts it, i am a "walking biological hazard" or something like that. my brain is so fuzzy that i cant really remember things told to me like seconds ago.

Today, in class (8am lecture) while trying to keep awake in biotechnology lesson about environmental pollutants, my nose was starting to do its little act again. one of my coursemates who happened to be seating in front of me suddenly turned back, offered me tissue (which he actually took from his friend) and said, "i think you need this." i felt so pai seh! i think my sniffing really got to him and he couldnt take it anymore, that's why he offered me his friend's tissue. Sheesh...

Came home early in an attempt to sleep it off but still sniffing away and breathing through my mouth even as i type this entry. And to top it all off, my ears are blocked. Everything sounds a distant away, sometimes i hear a pop sound but most of the time, its blocked. (thats why you have ear nose throat clincs in hospitals, they are all linked)

After biotech lab yesterday, Xiuhui actually gave me one of her flu tablets, a really small pink tablet to take, which i actually dropped on the floor (more than 3 seconds) but decided to pick it up and eat anyway cos i was desperate for the leakage to be stopped! It was really effective for the rest of the night and i felt well enough to give myself a well deserved hair cut. But this morning, it all started again.

Oh boy.
Signing out,
Tired out by my Flu.

The Miracle Is You
There are times when doubts creep in
i wonder if You're near
No answered prayer no joyous smile
just the pain that pierces through
there seems no hope at all
every road says i will fall
No shining light to guide
no secure place to hide
But as i look behind on this path i've tread
your faithfulness just shines
so many times You've delievered me
Given hope i now call mine
You've changed my life within
Only You know where i've been
How could i doubt Your love
Disregard the things above
Chorus:
Only a miracle will do
to make me the one that i've changed to
and purely by Your grace i stand
For the miracle is You
There's still so much i need to learn
You'll teach me in Your time
As i run this race, help me seek Your face
So You're always on my mind
You're the reason i've come this far
now i see beyond the stars
As i stand and hail You king
Let my mouth Your praises sing
Chorus

Cleaning out the Fridge in my house to welcome the new fridge

Ever cleared a fridge of its stuff so that it can be carted off to allow another to take over its time in the kitchen? Well, thats what we did at home today.

Came home from school today to see the kitchen counter, floor, stove top (basically any free space) covered with glass bottles of different sizes each covered with a layer moisture on the outer surface of the glass.

As i looked through the bottles, bags of dried stuff, it amazed me how much stuff or junk there was in the fridge, accumulated over the years!

Those of you who have known me long enough would know that it is not safe to ask me for anything from my fridge unless you ask me how long it has been there for. I saw items which i have not known was still in the fridge. Eek..

The new fridge, hopefully on its way now is one of those giant, modern, hi-tech ones i guess. I heard it has got an ice-turner .. (what thats means i have no clue) =)

shall paste a photo of the new fridge next time i guess. till then. back to my lab reports.

It has been a long while... ...
I guess i have been silent for a little too long. How's everyone? The students, the working class etc.
Life has been really hectic, exciting, challenging all rolled into one this past month. I was just reading back through my journal and i realised that many things have happened. The musical, Young Leaders Conference, my friendships, Discovery Weekend. Each has given me different thoughts and trials and testing.
This is the term break for the NUS students. Though only 4 days long (we actually have school on fri) i'm still glad for the break to catch up on work and to chill out a little before the load comes in again.

Have been wondering what i should do when i graduate. well, for now its still open, waiting for God to show me. =)

I'm sure you guys have heard of C.S. Lewis havent you? Well, in his book entitled, " The Four Loves" he writes this:

"... there is no safe investment. To love at all is to be vulnerable. Love anything and your heart will be wrung and possibly broken. If you want to make sure of keeping it intact, you must give your heart to no one, not even an animal. Wrap it carefully round with hobbies little luxuries; avoid all entanglements; lock it up safe in the casket or coffin of your selfishness. But in that casket - safe, dark, motionless, airless - it will change. It will not be broken; it will become unbreakable, impenetrable, irredeemable. The alternative to tragedy, or at least to the risk of tragedy, is damnation. "

Have you ever reached that stage of a friendship where you feel like you want it to deepen but yet you are afraid that it is only something you might want and not what your friend wants?

I guess we won't know unless we take that risk to be vulnerable. 'Cos, be vulnerable instead of becoming impenetrable, unbreakable. We were made to have a community of friends for support. Not as loners.

"Women are like Spaghetti"
If you look at a plate of Spaghetti, they intersect one another all the time. That’show a woman processes life. Every thought and issue is connected to every other thought and issue in some way. Life is much more of a process for women than it is for men. Most women try to connect life together, hence the constant need to talk things through. Making links between friends, food, school, work, family all in one single conversation of maybe say 10 mins is extremely normal.
something i read. do you gals agree?

Have you ever wondered what make you feel that paticular way when someone says something? read this.. from ---- The Cry of the Soul

What provokes our feelings?

"although feelings often seem unpredictable and irrational , they are neither random nor unprovoked. True, different people react differently to different situations, but due to our common heritage as persons made in the image of God, we share some predictable patterns."

Our emotions are based on our responses to how others deal with us. Our feelings are provoked when people relate to us in one of the 3 ways:
1) they move against us (attack)
2) they move away from us (abandonment)
3) they move towards us (love)

How was the holidays? Lots to write but i will do it over a longer span of time.
For the time being, take care.. I'm still alive and WILL be updating this blog.

" In This World There is NO Ugly Woman, Only A Lazy Woman"

What do you think? Does this make sense? Well, if you think about it, it's true. God created all woman unique and special. We are not ugly, its just laziness. If a girl is vain enough and willing to put in the effort to learn the techniques of makeup, dressing up and colours which suit her, she would look radiant and beautiful.

When you dun bother about your looks, you can look extremely unkempt. Your hair is in a mess, you dun bother about what you wear, you are just not presentable.

This is really controversial but well, its not a hard and fast rule anyway. =)

Design - Pain but yet a sense of satisfaction

Today, Friday, 30th April, i spent my whole morning and afternoon trying to figure out how to create a bookmark like prayer card for the youths in my church.
1st half of my time: spent staring at the computer wondering what program to use.
2nd half of my time: messaging my achin shoulders and making final adjustments

Designing anything is a time killer! takes up so much time! but, like the title, once it is completed you have a sense of sastifaction..

Sigh. so, do to or not to do? Oh well.

Its the weekend again.. got A wedding to attend. Adrian's church wedding on sat, Adrian's dinner on sunday..

A building at Biopolis tumbles...

What is happening? Highway and buildings are tumbling down. The lastest i heard is that 1 is dead and 4 are missing in the lastest disaster.

it has been a while since my last post. What have i been doing since?
Over the weekend, went with some friends to Desaru Perdana Beach Resort! Not to have fun mind you.. we went to work! It was a planning retreat which saw us sleeping, eating , planning, and eating, sleeping, and planning!

It was really fun though.. had loads of fun! view the photos on the side here.

"Grace - short term memory extraodinaire"

This was used on me quite recently and i guess i have to admit it. it descibes me. I have a really lousy memory. I cant remember appointments, facts, dates, things. How terrible is that.
Have no idea why my memory is that bad.

Oh well.

LIfe has been up and down. Doing too many things again. i need to slow down to just relax at home. Can it be done? Will i ever learn the art of being still?

i wonder...

Being Indecisive - a terrible trait to have

today, one of my flaws has been amplified. I'm indecisive. Last night, i spent many precious SMSes with my friend agreeing and postponing our appoinment today! and Just now, i decided to go back to my cousins place, then 2 mins later, i thought otherwise! how terrible!

Why cant i just stick to one decision and follow it? Well, now you know. GIve me time.. if not i will say yes, forget about it and overbook myself (always happens)

Weather: still hot! face is always covered with an extra layer of sweat.. constantly carrying around a piece of tissue paper or many pieces of toilet paper to wipe the sweat off. How auntie eh? =)

I did it again!

before i plunge into my main juice for the day, if you haven noticed, this is my second entry for today! hahha. I just had a friend ask me why people keep blogs. I didn't have a very good argument so if those of you want to live up to your stand pls do tell me why you keep blogs.

Okay to my story..
I DID IT AGAIN! What did i do? i went innocently to have a long overdue haircut and came back with something really really different. No, i didn't colour it blue (like eewah suggested when we were super stressed) and no i didn't colour it pink (know that would be your next guess) i just had an innocent haircut.

Call me adventurous, daring, trusting (to my hairdresser) but this haircut will shock you i think. i dunno. i actually like it but its high maintainace. i was telling hannah at lunch that i feel like i need to get a new wardrobe to keep up with this hair.
My hair has more attitude (this is how my hairdresser puts it) than me maybe.. most probably.

Well, for those who want to cut your hair short but dun really trust lousy hairdressers cos they might do a disasterous job, go to pauline. she's good. Really good. Have a look for yourself and make your own judgement.

Only thing is .. she's a little pricey. But i guess the price you pay to look better. =) i dont get commision by introducing others thats for sure but she's just the queen of cutting short hair!

to all: Me not vain k. .. just have a creative and daring hairstylist.. NOT VAIN! (... am i telling that to myself?)
MY DREAM FULFILLED.

hey, remember a few entries ago i was complaining about the long bus ride to my present campus? And how i dreamed and wished they would build one in the east?

Wishful thinking has become reality! Guess where the new univeristy will be at? Changi Business Park! that's like 10 mins away from my place! As you all know, its University of New South Wales. Quite reputable i must say though at the Tan Residence (aka my house) the speculation was that it would be an American university.

Too bad its only opening much later.

weather: HOT!

Hellboy

Grace's rating: 3.5/5

went to watch it with my cousin and my sis last night as a post exam event at Cinelesuire as well as to use up my free ticket vouchers.

As you all know, its a comic book adaptation about how a little "boy" born in Hell, was brought up on earth.
thats basically it and the whole hero saves the world kind of thing. a little like X-men but this has a witty side to it and is worth watching.

My favorite character is the alien-fishy thingy. Cant remember his name though but he's really cute. Go catch it when you can.

Hmmmm... now that exams are over i feel a little bored with nothing to do everyday. But i am going to take the opportunity to catch up on my yearly reading. Also, to wactch tons and tons of DVDs! Maybe I will go buy some karaok DVDs or CDs to irritate my neighbours in the day. =)

Oh and to finish up my music. Haven been going for theory lesson the past few weeks because of exams. Really feel like i am wasting my money (or my mother's money) but no choice. Got to take this three months to really catch up on it.
Well, sign off now.

Weather forcast today: 26 to 34 degress celcius
HOT!

The Passion of the Christ

The Passion of the Christ, directed by Mel Gibson, is the first M18 rated show in Singapore.

Went to watch it at Orchard yesteraday with my sis and some church friends.
I recommend it to all of you, not because I am forcing it down your throat or anything (not that powerful) but because it talks about a person's life.

You can watch it with many perspectives.

1. A sceptic, filled with negative thoughts even before you enter, ready to look for problems in it just because it is religious in nature

2. An open mind, to understand the life of a man that so many believe in. Take the movie on Ghandi. It is also a movie on his life, his teachings, his passion for the people.

3. A nutralist, determined not to view the picture in any view, but to take it on surface level, looking at cinematic effects. (which is absolutely great let me tell you)

The life of the man (Jesus) protrayed in this movie is overwhelming.
if it helps, when watching the movie, dun think about it with the Christian perspective you already have. give the man another name, say Joshua.

in the movie, you will see the last 2 days of his life, what he went through leading to his death on the cross, a way of punishment in the Roman empire in those days.

Watch it.

DRAMA IN THE BIZ LIBRARY

Besides the occasional mvt of bodies, clearing of throats, and rapid pitter patter sounds on the keyboard, the air was slightly still, peaceful and tranquil when i heard a slight sniffing sound coming from the table opposite me.

Being bored with studying and curious at what was happening, i casually looked up from what i was doing. There, i saw a guy half squatting, half leaning over the table trying to comfort a damsel in distress. Her back was facing me but i could tell that she was crying. Dun ask me why. no clue, can only hypothesise.

Curious though cos she was happily walking around her friends (2 guys, one presumably her bf) when this happened. The other friend looked kind of sheepish so maybe he was the cos of it. She was in a bad shape. SHe couldnt stop crying, and her bf was amused yet trying to comfort her.

Cut the long story short, she settled down, but not before the sound of her clearing her nose resonated throughout the whole room. =)

This is Grace Tan, reporting live from the scene.

=)
Okay, so i am bored. Didnt bring my laptop to catch such things i can assure you. Computer was to watch webcast .

Alrighty , back to the books. Got a date with rhumetic drugs now. till we meet again.

Maybe i will have a better story if i go to Law library next time. hee

Cherry Blossoms in Singapore?

What is the thing that japan is famous for in terms of sights besides mt fiji? It's Cherry Blossoms!
Dun get me wrong, didnt take a holiday during the weekend in my personal jet to Japan to see the flowers in bloom.

A similar scene can be seen in Singapore.

The large tree outside my house has gone cookoo. Usually, it's flowers drop in October. easy to rememeber cos its like Autum at my place then, with us sometimes falling down cos of all the flowers on the ground.
Now its the start of april and the flowers are blooming! I got a shock when i got home yesterday when i saw my front garden a patch of pink!

Is it autumn already? Has the year 2004 passed so fast ? but no lah. the silly tree..

Yesterday, RETAIL THERAPY. Went to muji and bought a highly expensive stapler, some pens, and a drink cos i like the bottle. How terrible can i get? (well, at least i didnt buy shoes or bags.. )

Urgh. My bible study teacher Elaine, used to have a catch phrase when it came to her Law exams last time.
We called her the "Panic, panic, panic, stress, stress, stress, die, die ,die" gal cos thats why she liked to say during her exam period.

I feel that way.
But I WILL SURVIVE! 4 papers in 3 days, with tons of memory to do.. in 1 and a half weeks. GReat. Never fear.
=)

Mood: A unique combination of Optimism, depression, anxiety and rebellousness. (Go figure)

THE JOURNEY HOME

NUS at night is a totally different new experience from the bustling and hurrying in the day time. The cool night air blows through your hair and its really peaceful. Provided your head is not cramped full with worries.

Met a friend on the MRT journey home, a guy doing his pupilage now whom i got to know during my YEP after my 'A's.
Strange to have met him, made small talk, about this, about that, not really making any connection.
Maybe i was just tired. Who knows.

Tomorrow, another day of school, another day of studying and keeping up with all the mugging.
Tution tomorrow, and BBQ at Aaron's place. Frankly, dont think i deserve to declare the night off for tomorrow cos not much studying has been done.

Will see how.

Talked about going to Penang for holiday with Janice today. Seems like the beach is actually really nice! thinking of maybe jUne or july! Maybe will ask the guys , maybe not.
this reminds me of what a Sec 3 boy in church said on sunday, "I hope they accept girls in Sec 4, cant live without them."

Music : None, the sound of my own voice memorising my facts
Fav book (for pleasure) : does the advance theory test count? reading it in my free time

THANK GOD FOR THE RAIN!

11 days from my last post. Guess I am back to my lazy old self. =) Oh well, its friday and i am using my cousin's computerto update my blog since he mentioned about me not updating.

Met up with eewah, angie and yuru this morning cos the two england gals are back for Easter Holidays. SUPPOSED to meet at 9 but as usual we only met like half an hour later. =) Had fun talking and eating Kaya toast at Kileney Kopitiam.

since the exams are coming, i have been studying the past few days. Mon, in church, tue in school (central library), wed in school (business library w Joanne), thur in church (w Hannah, 5 solid hours) and Fri, today zilch! hahaa. Gotta do work after this cos i have 2 tests coming up next week, how gross is that?

Hence, as you can see, nothing interesting is happening in my life nowadays cept that i enjoy my quiet time with God so much more now. =)
Oh! this coming sunday, 28th of March, i am being confirmed as a member in my church. I have been attending some lessons on Sat for the past 8 weeks on the real meaning of being a Christian and the Methodist Church history. Some of my friends are being baptised on Sat(tomorrow) .

dunman pple: Baoming? remember him? he's in my church and he is being baptised tomorrow, confirmed as member on sun.

One more thing before i sign out:
I HAVE DECIDED TO TAKE MY DRIVING THIS HOLIDAY! I AM DETERMINED TO DO IT GET OVER WITH IT!
SIEZE THE DAY! CARPE DIEM!

one project down, one more to go. On the side bar, you can view the webpage i made for my Biology module. Pretty cool using all the different bioinformatic softwares online. You can have a read if you are really that bored... =) Its about this bacteria which only has 2 chromosomes (i.e. where your DNA Is located)

And how we use different computer softwares to determine functions found in the bacteria based on its genetic makeup. Sounds cheem? well, not really lah.

Now that I have done one, I seem to have caught the bug. Might just do one more. who knows =) come often to see!

A few days ago, i saw one of my lecturers going home. you shoudl see the briefcase he was carrying.. it looks as if its fit for the museum, very well used. I guess it has sentimental value, maybe his first briefcase..

IHmm.. but if he can drive a Volvo, y cant he afford to buy a new bag? maybe its just like me, i can afford to spend money buying shoes and still can live with my old wallet.. makes sense? =p.

Exams are coming round the corner again and wishing all those out there the best!
My friend just got very frustrated last night with her project cos she coudlnt get her links to work and she had to hand it up at 2359 yesterday nite!
Thankfully for me, I managed to finish it all by monday night, leaving me time to do some checks on tue. Thank GOD! phew cos i had to attend a christian concert last night!
All in good timing (something difficult for me. )

WEll, all the best!

Fav past time now: Catching up on sleep... ...

If you hate sweeping leaves, never stay in a house. I mean it.

Today, i stayed at home with all intention to spend a good solid day studying. HOwever, my mom took half day leave and asked her to do some house work.

Because it rained non-stopped yesterday, my very old, falling apart house deicded to gather a pool of water in the ceiling near my balcony. it was clogged with dry leaves from the months of dry weather, but soggy with all the rain water. so guess who had to climb over the balcony to unclog the place... ME!

my sis refused to do it cos she said that she was not agile enough and too short to climb over the balcony.
So i had to do it. Couldnt imagine my mom doing it . what if she twisted some bone while climbing over?

So i climbed and found myself waddling ankle deep in disgusting brown water. Using a skewer, i poked at the tiny hole which would be the source of drainage trying my best to clear it not even seeing it. took me a while but i finally did it.

Meanwhile, my sis was clearing up the plaster that had fallen due to the wetness of the who ceiling. My house is falling into parts!

To top it all, after clearing all the decomposing leaves (super heavy) i came down and my mom made me change the Chandelier light bulbs! urgh..

its been a day of funny things.

Thursday. Short days for me.

Not much excitement from yesterday to today but went out to study yesterday afternoon cos i was falling asleep at home.
Went to the starbucks at Siglap which was pretty good cos it was really quite, not much of a crowd.
The lady at the counter, (name's Nur) was really friendly and she liked my hair! hee.. even asked me where i did it. So i told her..

Made a wrong decision by buying Grande size coffee from Starbucks. Luckily, i ordered decaff if not it would have resulted in caffein overdose! good grief.. the coffee cup is really really huge!

Half an hour later, some ang moh came in, striked up a conversation with her and tried to invite her to his place. I think goes there pretty often cos he seemed to know her pretty well. But well, being singaporean and all, she decided not to go.. =)

Haha.

another half an hour later, a singaporean guy came in (in army) and talked to her too! Dunno what the conversation was about but at the end of the conversation, he got her no. cos she also wanted to go diving or something!

INteresting eh? what you can observe by sitting at Starbucks for ~2 hours.

Tonight, out again. Tingni, me, and some of my JC classmates are going for a NUS production by Campus Crusade the Christian organisation we are involved in school . 6-8pm Will most prob meet pple there as well, know some of my sec classmates are going too.

i could do with more sleep though. what with all the projects and tests.

Aim for the day:
1/ to cut down on my caffein intake
2/ to diligently record down the different Bible portions i read everyday.

wow. sorry guys haven had time to update my blog. School has been hectic...

Nowadays, the weeks just pass me by. week after week, its like clockwork. Mon, long day, Tue, long day, wed-fri to breath a little and to catch up! and study for upcoming tests and complete projects. Not to mention, squeezing time in to do music theory on weekends, on buses and most impt to spend quality time with God.

Something interesting is happening in my life and I want to remember it. (as you know, i am really forgetful) So I am going to post it here.

juicy? maybe maybe not. Anyway, dun laugh, cousins dun get shocked (you will most prob be grossed out anyway, youre at that age =p), friends (ee wah, yuru) dun burst out laughing but i think older man are really nice guys.. hee. and i am not talking about guys 5 years older.. maybe say 8 to 10 yrs? there isnt any way of saying this without making you all startled but well, dun worry i am not going to go out with an older guy. ( too much complications at my age) It's just a phase thing i think. =P

it will most be an interesting experience to share next time with your children if they get this feeling too (esp gals)

Cousins , dun have to get the older generation all hyped up eh.. you know what i mean.. if not ah.. i am going to spill on you all ah!

anyway, better not write to much.. difficult to read write? =)

Music : Classical Music - forgot how nice it can be!

I survived yet another traumatic bus ride from my home to school. Wasting 3 hours of your waking time on the bus is a killer. (i.e. that is 19% of your time) I wish they make tertiary schools in Changi. Like behind expo? All that land! Even going to Tekong for lessons would be so much faster!

Maybe the new school will be in the east! The one that they are so secretive about.
Enough about my traveling stories. How have all of you been? I am currently waiting for Tingni to come to school so that we can “collaborate” for our LSM 2104 project. Why the “”? Cos it’s suppose to be an individual project! =) hee.

Changing topic, the university wireless network is disgusting! Even though places near LTs are SUPPOSED to have great connection, I am now sitting RIGHT OUTSIDE LT 24 and YET I CAN’T GET any CONNECTION! Why? Anyone knows? Oh well.

I actually did this entry on word and copied it into my blog!

okay. back to my work. update tomorrow.

Current reading interest: Newspapers.

The weather was really good today, so i decided to go for a swim after school and it was just great! Haven swam for a really long long time.. took a while to get the hang of it. (i.e. started slow.. )

and it was really hot! Thankfully the sun came in spurts and it was not scorching hot.
It also striked me that a lot of young children go for swimming lessons at CSC (CHinese Swimming Club) Maybe in the hopes of being the next Mark CHay? Mothers are really dedicated, they would drive them down and hang around to chat with other mothers of other young aspiring swimmers.

Haha.

Did i tell you guys I went to BODY WORLDS? yeah, last thursday at 11am, i went. Paid a discounted entrance ticket of $9.(original price:$18) Well, if you have not been into an anatomy hall before, this should be interesting. These bodies (or parts of them) are preserved using a technique known as Plastination.

with this technique, you are able to do a lot more things with the fragile parts of the body as they are now hardened.
there were cadavers with only the nervous system left attached to the skeleton, muscles left only and even one where the body was split into half, oneside showing the body with all the different parts still attached while the other side displayed only the nervous system.

A lot of exhibits for you to wow over and a more than sufficient write-up for each display for a open exhibition like this.

All in all, a good experience. so go! it has been extended.

this coming sat, is Valentines Day. So what plans do you all have? =) Hot dates? Girls night out? staying at home? hee.
i think it's overhyped; good for the stores but not good for the guys pockets.

you can show your sweetness to your friend/girlfriend/boyfriend 365 days in a year! why wait till Valentines day when all prices are really high? but i guess its the thing about everyone is celebrating and its that special day.

wishing all an early Valentines/Friendship Day then!

BEst female mag: Seventeen. its great! informative, tells you all the great and affordable makeup and clothes! You dont have to be 17 to read it!

Thoughts that flowed through during the weekend

I am thankful for the holiday today for it means I can catch up with my work as well as study for my test on wed.

The weekend was kind of packed with a lot of things to go to but I am glad for them all.
ON friday, I had my first disciple group meeting at 6pm and my friends and I together with Bixia went to Kenny Rogers for dinner and sharing.

Truthfully, i was really tired and was ready to call it a day but the sharing that Bixia had prepared for us was really interesting and thought provoking. IT was about being a Woman of God. How do we become one?

She gave us a poem which beautifully showed us our role as a woman in society.

I never agreed with feminism and that night just confirmed my thinking.

Just a portion,

"...Man represents my image, woman my emotions
together you represent the totality of God
In gentle quietness, show your strength..."

Saturday, Went for a combined Methodist youth event at PLMC called "Fusion 2004"

Youths from all the different Methodist Churches came together to meet one another as well as to pray and worship God! The excitement and vibrancy was to the brim and it felt comforting to see all these pple. though i didnt know them by face nor by name, a sense of closeness still lingered in the air.

When you personally know God as a friend, somehow things change and you no longer need to fear; failing exams, not being known to be IN, peer pressure...

you will begin to form your own identity and be contented with what you have all the time cos GOd is in control.

=)

now how's that for a comeback? Two times in a day i am updating my blog!

Well, actually i feel kindda guilty so since I had literally nothing to do today, why not write more?

1st time I'm back so early from school so kind of slacking right now... .. Such a wet day and all, really just great to laze around at home.
Today, i met new people which was kind of fun and cool since I have not been making much new friends nowadays. Actually they are Ee Wah's Arts friends but I had lunch with them today and got to know them. Nice bunch with interesting names I must say but lets not get started again on that yah ? (right eewah?)

You know what's the difference between a Sci student and an Arts student? The ability to write, crap, put it in whatever way you want. During lunch, one of the conversational topic was how Eewah's friend couldnt limit his essay length. He already has 600 ++ words and he is not even done yet! Wow, i thought to myself, " how did he even crap out 600 words?"
When i have to complete art module essays, i also find myself selecting the "Select All" button and hitting the "Word Count" button hoping that I would have met the min word limit. And here, he is trying to limit his word limit.

Amazing.

While on the subject on modules, Perfumes and Cosmetics ( this module i am taking) is pretty cool you know. A little boring at times but interesting in general. You guys should try taking it someday. (Guys as in everyone in general)

I forgot! one of my friends got talent scouted by Stef Sun when he was singing in school! wow isnt that cool?
Really happy for him.. way to go!

Well, all goes well today. And tomrrow is another day. Getting my photos tomorrow so that's something to look forward to. Hopefully i will be able to figure out how to post photos here so that i may show you all some.

Fav Album: Corrine May (local singer)
Wow, Happy 2004 and xin1 nian2 kuai4 le4!

I am lagging, a thousand apologies to those who have been faithfully coming here to see what's up with me!

Let see...

1.
Well, I'm 21 now and officially old... You wouldnt believe how MANY pple have mentioned this phrase to me, "Now that you are 21, your 30th birthday will come very soon!" OR "Better cherish these next few years for before you know it, you will be inviting me to your 30th birthday!" and variations of it. Thanks to all. =) And the funny thing (most interesting too) is that they were all mentioned by GUYS, BOYS, MAN. There. =)

Just want to thank all for coming for my party on Sunday. For those who were really sporting, thank you for dressing up! For those who did not, (we shall not mention names here... for fear that someone types in your name in Google and gets a link here) well, you owe me one.

And well, erm.. for the guys who had to do something than, sorry about it. I assure you its not my plan. All in good fun!

2.
Those in Singapore: Have you found the weather to be highly disgusting? It rains non-stop! Good grief. Where does all that condensation of water come from? Bet you its going to be really hot after all these showers of blessing are over!

Well, i got to stop here for now, cos i'm in the CBLC (computer lab) and there's a line of pple waiting. So better run now.

My pledge for the day:
I, Grace Tan, hereby promise to try my best to update this page on a regular basis regardless of weather, moods, workload, inefficency etc to build a better blog to the benfit of those around me. =)

K have a great day everyone!
