What provokes our feelings?

"although feelings often seem unpredictable and irrational , they are neither random nor unprovoked. True, different people react differently to different situations, but due to our common heritage as persons made in the image of God, we share some predictable patterns."

Our emotions are based on our responses to how others deal with us. Our feelings are provoked when people relate to us in one of the 3 ways:
1) they move against us (attack)
2) they move away from us (abandonment)
3) they move towards us (love)
