My mini outing out north

Having a break right smack in the week really helps as it gives me a nice breather to my very fast paced and packed timetable. I kind of have a routine for my wednesdays. Wake up late (i,e, dun put the alarm on) have a longer QT, EXPLORATORY TIME at about 11 plus till about 3 in the afternoon and then its back to the apartment to do some school stuff and blogging stuff online while waiting for Selene to get home from school.

Last week, Exploratory time was taken up by the necessity of food supplies in our apt. This week, I decided to visit the much acclaimed Mill Park LIbrary located along Plenty Road. This is what's written about the library.

"The Mill Park Library is the most exciting and innovative library in Victoria. Visually stunning, it is the first to be designed on the concept of a hybrid digital/print library. It has been built by the City of Whittlesea, and is managed by the Yarra Plenty Regional Library. The library serves a population of approximately 50,000 in one of Australia's highest growth areas."

It's not far off from my place so I checked the route on metlinkmelbourne.com.au . Pretty easy, just a tram ride and a bus ride and i'm there. So off i Went; BUT... it was such a let down. Many reasons:
1. There is only one form of public transport to get to the library, bus service 562 and it took forever to come. It was pretty on time but there is ONE bus every 45 MINS! Gee...

2. Still undeterred, i looked forward eagerly to my library visit.Upon reaching there, I was optimistic for the outside really looked pretty, with shiny glass windows and sleek architecture. (see picture) Upon entering, boy was my expectaions not met. Or rather lets just say i had singapore regional library as my basis of comparison. It was .. pathetic. It doesnt even compare to any of our community libraries! sigh. i had so much hope for them.

3. Since i travelled so far, i decided to just sign up as a member for the heck of it (cos they do have some good books i would borrow next time if i bother even travelling so far). and guess what.. their whole internet system was down... and they couldnt register me. they told me to come back in teh afternoon. i was like , forget it man.. there isnt even any place nearby for me to drink coffee and wait. sheesh... I left

It was another long wait at the bus stop for the elusive 562 before it appeared. Feeling unsatisfied with my outing, I decided to take a look at RMIT (Bundoora) on my way home since i had to alight and take the tram anyway. So off i went and it was really nice. (see picture) I'm a little envious now as its really modern (well its all relative, and my basis of comparison is La trobe uni this time round) and i'm determined to pay the campus another visit. Maybe do my assignments at this library instead of ours. shall take some photos for comparison for you guys if i remember.

anyway.. that was my exploratory time for this week. I wonder what it shall be next week? Till more..
