Six degrees of separation

Six degrees of separation refers to the idea that, if a person is one step away from each person he or she knows and two steps away from each person who is known by one of the people he or she knows, then everyone is an average of six "steps" away from each person on Earth.

How did this come about?
I was listening to Corrinne May while surfing the web, doing assignment, blogging, editing photos blah blah you get the picture (basically not getting any work done) when i was reminded of this concept by here in one of the songs.

And this evening, I had conversation on MSN with Ant in UK. It has really been so long since I've actually talked to him. And i thank God for that opportunity. Really i do. Thank you Ant if you ever read this post. For clicking on my name and saying hi. Thank you.
