Saturday - 12th Jan
After attending to some business at Alexander Hospital, Dr Li came by to pick me up for lunch. Since he has been having a craving for Sizzlers for a couple of days, we decided to fulfill that craving that day (macham a pregnant woman =)). However, Sizzler's menu and standard of food was a letdown. He had the spicy singapore chicken while i had the salad bar and BOTH were nothing great. To make matters worse, our bill came up to a grand total of 45 bucks!
After running a few errands and loads of money spending in POPULAR and Carrefour, the two of us headed for our next stop - EAST COAST PARK to cycle for about an hour plus. The weather was extremely good - windy and little sun. However, like any weekend, the place was filled with people cycling, blading, BBQ-ing and just hanging out.
We took the tandem bike, the two person bike cos of my fear of bikes and my even greater fear for pple around me when i'm on the silly bike. Not sure whether you guys know, but i have a history with bicycles which has resulted in a phobia for them. But i still wanted to cycle and get some exercise without having to manuvere through the crowds. When suggested, Dr Li actually gamely agreed even though tandem requires greater coordination and greater skill for the person in front.
So off we went on tandem, with me providing pedal power and he skillfully guiding our bike through the throngs of people at ECP. He was really really skilled and i really felt safe man (okay you guys, dun start going aw... so sweet...., its true!)
About an hour or so into riding, the weather showed signs of a downpour and we decided to turn back. With great coordination and power, we skillfully veered our tandem bike through the crowds beating every other tandem bike and even going faster than some of the mountain bikes! (hahaha our little triumph)
Having a family dinner to attend in the evening we went back to my place to shower picked up my sis and made our way to Raffles Hotel's Bar and Billard Room for my grandma's 80th birthday celebration. Food was as usual amazing during such occasions but the best part of it was the reading of everyone's tribute to my grandma. Each poem was unique, depicting mama to the core. Today's her actual birthday, so HAPPY BIRTHDAY MA!

Next, off to the movies we go for our very first late night movie in a LONG LONG TIME.
Where we went: Cathay Cineplex- Picturehouse (first time too)
What we watched: Vexille (www.vexille.jp)
Type: Jap animation
What is it about:
Japan, 2077: Japan has become a renegade nation closed to the rest of the world. Shielded from penetration by air, sea and space for 10 years, the island nation has become a dangerous mystery to the United Nations. The country's isolation resulted when it fell out with other countries over the development of robotics and its determination to continue creating them even when they were banned everywhere else.
The fear is that it has now taken its creation of human androids to extreme and the only way to find answers is to send in a crack team of fighters to hook up with Japanese underground rebels and find out what's going on. Enter Vexille, a female special agent, whose squad uses ultra-high-tech uniforms, weapons and vehicles to rocket into battle
Upon coming out of the movie:
We both thought it was really good. Good storyline, worth watching. Wouldnt mind watching again when it comes out on dvd cos i erm fell asleep at some parts not because it was boring but cos i was tired.

1030: arrived in church for second service. Pastor Joel spoke re having good goals but poor attiude.
1200-1230: Left church for lunch with Dr Li and Chris
having surfed through this blog by a Singaporean Dr, we decided to try this place he went to just because it really looked good! So since those two lived in the North i figured this would be the best time to go.
take a look at what we ate:
1) Free popcorn was served, a very cool idea
2) seafood olio pasta
3) Sirloin steak burger
4) Pork ribs
5) soup of the day

All in all, it costs us $42.50. Thought it was a pretty good deal for good food.
