Cooking for Two

Cooking for Two
Selene and I have been putting our hand to the plow and cooking up
simple meals for ourselves. =) We are mighty proud of ourselves and
some of our dishes though simple they may be. Thanks to our
Singaporean network system, we have been inspired to cook more, to be
more adventurous too. Here are some of the dishes we have tried:

1. cabbage soup
2. Char Bu Rong (minced pork marinated with nice sauces)
3. Eggplant with Chili Paste
4. Breaded Porkchop.. (this one we cheated we bought it coated from
the supermarket)

tomorrow, she's cooking us a continental breakfast .. haha scrambled
eggs, ham, tomatos and a slice or two of bread. Will take a photo for
all you to see.

It has been really fun and exciting actually, grocery shopping,
planning our meals in advance and eating our own lousy or yummy food.
One book that has been of great help is the overseas student's
cookbook. It's easy to follow, gives wonderful tips and everything is
extremely easy to make . We have great ambitions next week, after we
make a trip down to Boxhill where the Asian shops are. We will be
following aunty Elanor there this saturday. Shall blog about our trip
there once we do it. For now, check out my multiply site (@ http://
stepsofgrace.multiply.com) for pictures of our food. If you guys have
any suggestions for us, pls feel free to tell us and we will try (if
its easy enough and we can get the ingredients.)

eating in is definitely cheaper here in Melbourne. take for example
today:
We were with a bunch of Singaporean gals (all doing nursing) having
lunch in between orientation sessions. Having no choice, we sat down
at a cafe in school to have an Indian Lunch, which costs us $8 EACH!
good grief, it was extremely small (just chicken and rice) and not
spicy and not nice .. VS our dinner at home tonight which comprised
of pork cutlet, eggplant with chili paste and some salad for me and
rice for selene. it was so yummy and definitely under 8 dollars for
both of us!

Moral of the Story: EAT AT HOME.

p.s. sorry guys, due to internet problems, no photos, no visual aids
here.. will get them posted once my internet in school is up!
