Apologies to all for my absence the past few months. I am still very much alive in Melbourne, just haven really had time to sit down to reflect upon what has been happening as well as to create a photo entry.
So now that exams are all over, (phew!) its time to update you guys on my life once again.
This semester has been really different for Selene and I as we technically only had 5 weeks of proper school (aka going everyday of the week, 9-5pm). Of course, those 5 weeks were a killer, since all our curriculum was packed into those 5 weeks but it also meant that we were pretty much left to our devices after.
As you have read from my previous entries, figuring out placement dates and locations was the greatest challenge for me this time round. I worried, I stressed, I panicked but all for nothing. Placement really taught me what Mathew 6 meant, Do not worry about tomorrow… It’s a really long story so ask me when I get home but the long and short of it is that God answers prayers and has a funny way of ensuring everything falls into place!
This semester, the Tan family also came down to visit me in Melbourne and we really had a jolly good time, both hanging out together and getting on one another’s nerves. You can see photos of our Sydney and Melbourne trip on my multiply site.
After a 10 day trip with my parents, crazy ol me left the next day for Perth with Selene! Can you imagine that? I’m pretty sure that you are thinking at this point, ‘seriously, is she there on a holiday or is she studying?’ me assured that we study our butts off and do assignments till we are sick of them. Its just that 50% of my course is very much based in hospitals. Hence when it’s not my cohort, I literally have no school at all. =) works eh?
We met up with friends there, hang out, chill, went to the beach (since Melbourne was really cold at that time) and even went to Ps Benny’s church where all our church friends go. It was really fun. Again, to see photos just go to my multiply site @ http://stepsofgrace.multiply.com/
On the foodie side, selene and I have really been cooking and experimenting different things as well as trying out different restaurants and cafés. =)
If you guys ever do want to come to Melbourne and you love the café culture and the quaintness of it, there are two places which are really lovely that you have to at least go have a look.
Laurent @ Collins Street
Laurent Cake shop pops up suddenly along Collins Street (or was it little Collins?). The two of us had heard so much about this place that we decided one Sunday afternoon to give it a shot. And it lived up to its expectations. Though a little pricey, the ambience is really ‘atas’ and made me think I was at Harrods in London. The cakes are really expensive for their size but well, good things don’t come at a cheap price. Have a look at our cakes. =)
Little Cupcakes @ Degraves Street
Degraves Street is a famous little alley in Melbourne, which is filled, with little cafes. A little further up the lane from the main buzz, little cupcakes is located nearer the entrance from Flinders Street. Owned by a Japanese, this little shop sells home baked cupcakes of different flavours. Topped with different icings, looking at it is just enough. But hey, you got to tell people you’ve tried things right? And it was really nice but a little tad too sweet for me.
Playing a great music selection over their stereo, little cupcakes is a great place to hang out on your own or with your girlfriend for a little tea time snack and a cuppa.
